Security Officer Training

Training is the key to Titan Security's success, and is a continuous process fostered and paid for by the company. Our belief in the need for continuous training is the driving force behind our in house training academy. Our academy is set up to train individuals new to the security industry as well as those that are looking for the advanced courses. The following is an outline of our basic program given to new hires:

Minimum Training Levels

The State of Illinois requires that all security personnel have the minimum 20-hour training. At Titan, all new hires depending on the time since they took their initial course, are required to have a refresher course on state mandated material which is administered by the Training Academy. As a general rule, to the extent that the personnel are available, Titan always prefers to hire applicants with education beyond the basic course work. The following list represents the minimum training levels acceptable to be hired at Titan Security: view list

Special Pre-Assignment Site Training

After reviewing the facility associated with a bid, we may suggest that the following courses be given to all Security Officers prior to assignment: more details

Site Training

Titan Security requires that all security officers be trained at the facility that they are to work. A security officer must be fully prepared to handle any emergency that may happen.

At a minimum, the training will be enough time for the normal person to learn all of the requirements of the post. We believe that the minimum time for this training would be 16 hours. If the officer does not have full knowledge of the post, more training will be given.

The Site Supervisor and Titan's Operations Manager will monitor all On-The-Job site training. At the end of the training period, the Security Officer and the Site Supervisor must agree that the officer has a full understanding of the post. If not more training will be given to the areas of concern. If both agree, the Operations Manager will be notified. more details

Firearm Training

On-Guard Training is certified by the State of Illinois to provide Armed Guard Firearm Training. We provide this training for all of our employees that are assigned to a designated armed post.

The State of Illinois requires that any Security Officer that is authorized to carry a firearm be re-qualified once per year with a score of 70%. Titan Security sets the re-qualification requirement a lot higher. We require all personnel that carry weapons to go through re-training and live fire at a range three times a year. They must qualify each time with a score of 80% or higher. If they fail to meet the 80% mark, they will go through basic firearm training each week until they do.

The tri-semester training is given to improve the Officer's proficient handling of firearms. more details

Special Request Training

In addition, we offer detailed instruction to our employees, at client request, on any of the following:

  • Theft Prevention
  • Gang Awareness
  • Search and Seizure
  • Directing Traffic
  • Warehouse Security
  • Special Event / Crowd Control
  • Strike / Labor Dispute Security
  • Use of Restraints and Instruments

If you have any training requirements that we have not listed, Titan will work with you to develop the training.
