Public Relations - This helps the security officer understand the interactions between people. It will allow them to understand the reactions to their actions. Most Security Officers will find a great deal of their workday is involved with the use of public relations.
Legal Issues - This course gives a brief description of the laws relating to the security industry. It will help the new security officer to understand the limitations upon the officer. It will give guidelines to the use of force.
Sexual Harrassment Education - What it is and how to stop it. This class teaches the security officer what actions are considered sexual harassment and what can happen if they don't heed the warnings.
Code of Conduct - What is expected from a security officer.
Communications - The different types of communications and how they work.
Patrol - The do's and don'ts of effective patrolling.
Report Writing - How to write a clear and accurate report.
Emergency Situations - How to respond to an emergency.
Fire - This class takes the officer through the classes of fires and extinguishers.
Safety - This teaches the officer to be aware of the different types of safety hazards.
Titan Policies - Titan rules and regulations are taught.
Special Pre-Assignment Site Training
Diversity Awareness - This course will help the Officer understand and work with the many diverse groups that they will encounter. This course is intended to bring awareness to groups of different races, ages, sex and religions.
Sexual Harrassment - This course will help the Officer understand and work with the many diverse groups that they will encounter. This course is intended to bring awareness to groups of different races, ages, sex and religions.
Security & Police Relations - A course on how to build a strong relationship with the Police.
Being Assertive w/o Rudeness - A class in what and how to get people to follow your orders, without making them upset.
Diffusing Conflicts - The Officer is shown to control situations with verbal and non-verbal communications.
Handling the Irate Person - The proper way in calming down a person out of control is taught. This course shows many ways to handle an out of control person, without violence.
Workplace Violence - What can we do to prevents the violence from starting.
Levels of Workplace Violence - How to react to minimize the violence if it starts.
Site Training
Basic Duties - The times that they are expected to be on duty. The proper uniform and demeanor. What duties they are to perform and why.
Facility Functions - The Officer will be given a tour of the building and told what each area is used for. The Officer will have a better understanding of their duties if they understand the nature of the facility.
Interaction with Tenants - The new Officer will be shown how to greet the people coming in and how to give directions to them. We believe that if the Officer takes the initiative to help people when they come in, the visitor will feel they are in a "Friendly Building".
Response to Incidents - How to respond as incidents come up without over reaction. The Officer is taught not to become part of the problem.
Chain of Command - New employees do not always know whom they should or should not take instructions from. As part of the site training a new Officer will be introduced to all key people in the building.
Firearm Training
Shoot-Don't Shoot Exercises - These exercises put the Officer, by way of video and slides, in situations that force them to quickly decide whether to fire their firearm or not.
Cover & Concealment - This course teaches the Officer what to use to protect themselves during gunfire, and how to return fire from a covered position.
Weak Hand Shooting - This class deals with the "How" in returning fire if you have injured your shooting hand. This will include the reloading of their weapon one handed.
Dim Light Shooting - The Officer is taught how to shoot in the dark while holding a flashlight.
Legalities Of Using Firearms - A refresher course in the laws pertaining to the use of weapons.
Safe House Shooting - The Gun range is set up to include moving and stationery targets. The Officer must search the area to find the hostile targets and in doing so must not shoot at bystander targets.
No Firearm Class Is Given Without 30% Of The Class Time Devoted To Firearm Safety.
Advanced Training
Certified Protection Officer - This is a course administered by the International Foundation of Protection Officers. This course involves home study, and is supplemented by classroom presentations presented monthly under the direction of the Foundation. The instruction is provided by qualified training personnel, the Human Resources Department administers tests and follow-up. It is Titan's goal to have every Site Supervisor qualify for the CPO Certificate.
City College System - Titan has had a long-standing relationship with the Chicago City College System and specifically with Harold Washington College. We encourage all our officers to enroll in courses related to their vocation. In an effort to stimulate the furthering of their education, Titan will reimburse any officer who enrolls in a vocational related course upon its completion.
Supervisor Training Program - All Site Supervisors are required to attend a training session once every 2 weeks. This training is given at the On-Guard Training Academy and runs for approximately 2 hours. The training covers a wide range of topics that are security or supervisory in related.

Continuous Testing Process
Post Procedures - At each meeting there is a review of all post procedures at the location and includes any revisions to old procedures.
Industry Updates - This would encompass any changes in electronics, CCTV, Card Access Control Systems, etc., that would be at a location. This would involve bringing in a third party vendor such as a card access control technician, a CCTV technician, etc., who explains how to utilize the equipment for optimum efficiency.
Drug Awareness - Titan continuously updates its security force as to the "badges" of drug use. This makes our guards more vigilant when allowing people to enter the facility, and promotes a higher level of awareness as to extent of usage in the general population.
Overall Course Refresher - Titan also, at these in-service meetings, updates and amplifies basic course material to give their guards a refresher on basic material.
